where the uk sellers at? infatuation is one of the ultimate disco cuts.
Wow, what a smasher this one was to discover and this is a track that really aged remarkably well. First heard this on an old cassette of Scott Blackwell live at 4D, taped off Q104.3 radio in New York. This is an excellent electro-style track with female vocals and stunning synthwork. It's hard to call it freestyle, but proto-freestyle is more correct, merely because of the programming mixed with the vocal style. This is the kind of song that fits in multiple genres and none exactly at all, and very much the kind of thing that Jellybean Benitez would have (likely did) play at The Funhouse in New York. The synthline, while nice and strong, breaks down to a rather cosmic pattern that repeats for a long stretch in the club mix making this a amazing tool for different uses. I know at least one disco DJ who mixes this track in deliberately from the middle (where this spacy sequence is) and into the vocal portion afterwards. The vocals are solid, the lyrics well written, and even more experimentation on the dub version. And it still holds up as a catchy song as well! For 80s disco, electro, proto-freestyle, even synth-pop, or HiNRG, this track is seriously a must-have.
