Franks Wild Years is the ninth studio album by Tom Waits, released 1987 on Island Records. Subtitled Un Operachi Romantico in Two Acts, the album contains songs written by Waits and collaborators mainly his wife, Kathleen Brennan for a play of the same name. Текст песни: Well Frank settled down in the Valley and hung his wild years on a nail that he drove through his wifes Waits wrote a song called Frank's Wild Years for his 1983 Swordfishtrombones album, then used the title minus its apostrophe for a musical play he wrote with his wife, Kathleen Brennan, and toured with in 1986. The Franks Wild Years album, drawn from the show, is subtitled, un operachi romantico in two acts, though the songs themselves do not carry the plot. Waits neophytes might be better off starting with Rain Dogs or Swordfishtrombones or, better yet, going back to Waitss 1973 debut and enjoying the surreal pleasure of watching the characters and their ringmaster develop from the beginning. But Franks Wild Years works both as an effective teaser for Waitss stage play and on its own downwardly mobile terms. Popular on Rolling Stone. In This Article: Tom Waits. Swordfishtrombones is the first album the albums title comes from a song on that, the second is the classic Rain Dogs. All three albums have experimental styles and free flowing lyrics about homeless people in cities. Subtitled Un Operachi Romantico in Two Acts , the album is an adaptation of a stage play Waits wrote and preformed in. It tells the story of a drifter named Frank as he slowly looses grip on reality and dies. Franks Wild Years Q&A. Tom Waits Video of the song Frank's Wild Years from the album 's Theme, 01:47.
