Album

Intended as an ode to the late Marvin Gaye, The Day We Lost the Soul opens with a short broadcast about the legendary soul artist's unfortunate death, then heads straight into Tribute To the Soul We Lost, one of Moodymann's best early tracks. Not much of a departure from the retro-disco funk also found on his other early tracks such as The Dancer and I Can't Kick This Feeling When It Hits, this track again illustrates Moodymann's acclaimed knack for putting out consistent, quality product. Between soul classics and old funk samples, the erotic house of this underworld genius was never aimed at the masses but a reckless squadron that listens truly to the murmurings of his cavernous voice. Resolutely deep house, his new EP Sinner, isnt really made for dancing: Moodymann goes in all directions but knows the way home by heart. Moodymann - I Think Of Saturday. An absoloute classic and one of those records that really has a time... 3am to be precise. Fantasic deep house with a hypnotic bassline laced with Marvin Gaye samples. The intro is a montage of radio clips describing the shock at Marvins death, including a clip of famous radio jock Frankie Crocker. Never ever mix this record, always stop the previous one and play straight from the intro, as the drop is fantastic when the actual track kicks in. Classic KDJ.

it starts with the radio announcing that marvin gaye had been shot by his father and takes it from there - impressive stuff - don´t get the point why they put the same song on both sides , but it`s a great record anyway..
