The pairing of Antonin Dvorák's Violin Concerto in A minor and Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor is appropriate because of the similarity of their formal designs, which were influenced by Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor, and because of their complementary moods. However, attentive listening will reveal important differences, such as the Bohemian rhythmic verve of the former, and the strong Brahmsian flavor of the latter. Violin Concerto In A Minor, B108. Composed By Antonín Dvořák. Adagio Ma Non Troppo - Quasi Moderato. Album 2013 6 Songs. By Antonín DvořákDavid Zinman, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich & Julia Fischer. Violin Concerto in A Minor, Op. Adagio, ma non troppo. By Antonín DvořákJulia Fischer, David Zinman & Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich. Finale Allegro giocoso, ma non troppo. Julia Fischer wished to record the concertos with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zurich and David Zinman, with whom she has a special relationship. One of my first concerts was with the Tonhalle Zurich and I first played with David Zinman in 2003. He is a very natural musician and very intelligent but in the end he simply makes music. This one, now perfectly supported by David Zinman and the Zürich Tonhalle, is again a fine disc with 2 of the great violin concerto's in the repertoire. Who would have any more doubts of Fischer's art, try out also her Tchaikovsky violin concerto disc on Decca, the company who keeps on and on issuing very fine sounding records with great artists.
